So I thought The Source was going to be the job that I was waiting for. Turns out its not. Simple as that.
First: I was questioning why we had to fill insane quotas when obviously not many customers are going to come in – and we can’t MAKE them buy shit.
Second: It’s a seasonal job. Wow! That’s news to me – thanks guys.
Third: Wtf? I have to go to training sessions miles away in the middle of the week, during the middle of the afternoon? Sorry guys – I got to school so I won’t be working at The Source for the rest of my life.
Fourth: The crap they’re selling is crap.
So I went and resigned way back on tuesday and then officially wrote my note of resignation and brought back the shirt on wednesday. Dave seemed mad.
So now I’m back at the deli – no not jobless. The Source paid me so I’m fine with that now. I didn’t even have to work at ALL this weekend. I swear, it’s my first weekend off since like August haha.

Ugghhh today was the crappiest day for work ever. This other new guy, Nathan, that was only like one day ahead of me, quit today for reasons unknown. I got to work and the other guy I work with, Dave (he’s cool) told me that Nathan came in, and left a note of resignation. Sucks. That means there are only THREE of us working at that store. And guess what time of the year it is? The busiest time of the year. Yay? I’m for sure not working more than 20 hours a week (school!) so they’ll have to hire someone else. But they’re already extremely slow at doing that too so that’ll take it past the holidays…
Also sucky today: I was serving this guy an answering machine, so it taking me forever to find it in the back, I finally come out and ring it through for him. All the while, this lady with her little boy was staring at me. And as luck would have it, the paper ran out from the receipt printer. When that was finally fixed, I ran the guy through and started on the lady. Normally, we have to get at least a name in order to complete the sale. So I ask the lady for her name. She’s like “No I’m not giving it”. So I’m like OK then. But then the computer wouldn’t let me finish the sale without info so I asked Dave how to fool the comp so that took a couple of SECONDs. As the register is opening, she says “This is enough, I’m leaving” and leaves without her one cent change. The receipt was printing and it was almost done and she left. I just stood there and went wtf in my head.
Also, the ‘holiday’ hours are extended. Yay, not. This means I work MORE in this chaotic place. Saturdays are now 12 – 9 instead of 12 – 6 and Sundays are now 11 – 6 instead of 11 – 5.
The best part of my day? Finding out that the new strawberry pies at mcdonald’s aren’t that bad.

Today was my first day working at The Source. I was almost late too haha. I left my house at 10:20am and I assumed it would take me about 20 minutes to walk there but I almost didn’t make it. When I got there, there was another new guy too. His name was Nathan. He’s cool so far. We looked at items and Nick (boss guy) got me to draw a map of all the products and where they were. Booring haha. Then they walked me through a sale on the computer and its pretty easy. Today I did like 32 sales (they print of statistics at the end of the day) and I sold more than Nathan :D on my first day!
I didn’t realize it before, but The Source is actually a hard-sell environment. We make commision and what we call “Spiffs”. I forget what spiffs stands for but its pretty much free money or incentives for selling items that the company really wants to sell. So warantees and stuff. I made $3.50 in spiffs. Yay. I also made about $4 in commision I think. Pretty low, I know, but good for my very first day! Also a Sunday so pretty dead. I learned that the best thing to make Spiffs on is selling a cellphone. Apprently we get about $25 in spiffs for each sell phone if we sell like 5. Pwnage? Yes!
Yep so that was my day pretty much. Now I’m relaxing by playing ragnarok with Harry :)
