I passed!

…barely.

My first term marks are quite embarrassing. I keep reading blogs of people who are in university and doing really well and it depresses me. I know Waterloo tries to weed first termies out and lots of other people fail, but still. My marks are absolutely horrid. I’m not even going to post them here since my parents could find them (and then laugh at me) but I did post them at my LJ for friends-only. If you’re dying to see my shitty marks, by all means, go add me as a friend and look.

I hope my co-op work term goes well and then the next term after that improves some…

Sometimes I dream about disappearing from home and moving to the UK or Australia to start some crazy new life. Maybe if I end up being a drop-out I can make it a reality :\

Happy 2008

It’s a new year according to the Gregorian Calendar. Does it feel any different? Nope.

I guess I will stick to the ‘tradition’ though by making some new years goals.

  1. Stop procrastinating. Do this by forcing myself to get things done.
  2. Exercise. Do this by promising to run or do weights every third day to start.
  3. Learn more Japanese. Memorize Katakana and learn some more kanji.
  4. Get a new theme up here… (almost done this one).

A tip for other people and their goals: make sure you make relatively small and realistic goals. If I were to say “Stop procrastinating” only, where would I start? I need a stepping stone before I get up the mountain. I would start small like making a to do list and checking small things off as I do them.

The problem with new years resolutions and people not compelteling their goals is the fact that they make unrealistic and unreachable goals. “Lose weight” doesn’t really mean much unless you say “Lose one pound every month” or something more specific.

How I spent my New Years

Camping out in a tent with a bunch of guys in a barn. It was bloody cold.

Snow + All Seasons = 0 Traction

Fairly obvious already since they made winter tires, but I would like to illustrate this point with a nice little personal situation.

Yesterday, someone apparently parked too close to Roland’s car so he decided to move it. He plowed it further into a snow bank and got stuck. They have their all-seasons on still so I knew they wouldn’t get anywhere at all. This was at night, so it was quite cold and there was no chance he would get anywhere. Him and Harry tried for probably 30mins to back it out with no avail. I suggested to wait until it got warmer tomorrow and pour boiling water on the ice/snow under the tires. (I’m smart like that). They didn’t listen, like most boys do (imo), and they continued pushing and spinning the tires, thus creating more of a ditch for the tire. Great job boys!

Today, I had my last exam, and it was the same exam as Harry had, so we decided to take my car since it has winter tires on and it has less of a chance to get stuck. Sucks that it got stuck anyways. So we tried for 20mins to get it out of a rut made of ice with no luck. Ten minutes until the exam! It was actually humanly impossible to get there on time now unless we were like Nightcrawler and could teleport. Too bad at least one of us isn’t blue and fuzzy.

We started running towards the school, then I decided to take the bus since we wouldn’t die this way from being too out of shape. So the bus comes within the next 5 mins and we go to the school. Then we ran from the stop to the PAC and found our seats.

After the exam (which I don’t think I did that well on…) we got home and finally boiled some water (three pots worth) to pour on the tires/under them to get the cars out. First we did mine since it had the better chance of getting loose. It only took one small pot of boiling water under one tire and I slowly backed out.

After 20 mins of digging around the tires and pouring water on the ice underneath, their car was loose. Yippee! We’re awesome! Then we made better parking spaces so the tires wouldn’t get stuck again and parked it. They’re really noob at driving so I parked it for them. They would pretty much come in and out at the fastest speed possible, while the trick is to go as slow as possible. So I let the auto transmission do the work.

I still had to return my RIM offer package so instead of parking, I went. When I came back, some wank took my spot! Wtf! The nice tailor-made spot I made just for me. Grrr. So I made a new spot to the right of the tool and took 10mins to flatten it out and make it pretty. I parked and went inside.

Yarrr more car fun! I think I’ve had too much car fun this last month… /sigh
