Summer!!

Yes it’s finally summer!! I love this season above all else. Well, maybe I like spring a bit more, but that’s only because it turns into summer.

I have now officially graduated from high school and had my prom, as well as another adventure on top of that. Hopefully the rest of the summer will be just as adventure-ful along with university to come.

Graduation was exciting, but not because of the heat in the gymnasium… Ugh was it ever hot in there. There must have been at least 300 people, if not more, inside this relatively-small gym. It was also one of the hottest days of the year thus far. We couldn’t have it outside either because it was about to rain. It didn’t really matter though, since we were all fairly soaked when grad was finished. I graduated with a ’subject award’ which unfortunately didn’t come with any money. :(

Graduation was on June 27, and prom was to be held on June the 30th. Before that however, I needed to hold up to my end of a ‘deal’ that transpired in outdoor ed about 3 weeks prior to the 30th of June. I needed to go Simon from Borden. Borden is a military base about 1hr north of Toronto which = about a 6 hour drive for me. Also very unlucky, Simon could only get off ‘work’ at 11am that day, so making it back for 6pm prom was very tight. It didn’t matter though, because I was on my way to Borden starting at 2am from Stittsville, with my friend Conor. What a trip it was. We took the 401 to Toronto, experienced rushhourish traffic at 5:30am and made it to Borden at around 9:30am. Lots of time to spare and look for Simon! Simon, being the silly person he is, hadn’t called earlier to tell me where to find him though. Hmm. Now what? Conor and I just parked at a Tim Horton’s that happened to be on base (wow?) and waited for a call. Nothing. Uh oh. It was close to 11am when we really started to panic. If Simon didn’t call by 11:30 we’d have to get going without him. 11:30 rolls by and still nothing. We decide to wait until 12. It’s really cutting it close, but we can’t afford to go back for him if he calls later. It’s now 12pm in the afternoon, and Simon is still no where to be found and hasn’t called. We decide to leave, and if he calls before 1:30ish, we’ll go back and get him, but it’s still really risky because then all three of us will miss our prom.

We head back, and at around 2:30pm, guess who calls?! SIMON!! Too bad we’re way too far to go back and if we did, we’d get back at around 9, missing everything. Damn. When I was telling Simon this on the phone, it dropped the call on my phone (because Telus sucks). Later I found out that Simon thought I hung up in anger haha. So we returned to where we had first started, without a Simon. We ended up getting back a little after 6pm, we raced to Conor’s house (I have never been so happy to see Stittsville in my life) and got ready for prom. We made it there for about 7, which wasn’t bad timing because prom was a little late getting started anyways. I finally got to sit down and eat something after probably 20 hours of not really eating much. But scientifically speaking, my stomach had shrunk so much at that point I couldn’t really eat anyways. The food was kinda lame anyways.

After prom, we went to Cajun’s aunt’s house but she wasn’t there yet, so we took cabs to go to a pool hall/bar called Terminis. And since this was in Hull, I am legal drinking age at 18! :D We drank a fair bit, played some pool, then went back to the house. At around 2am we decided to order some pizza, and that’s when the sleepiness hit me. I realized before I hadn’t been sleeping for over 36 hours. Now it was close to the 48 hour mark and I was really really tired. So apparently I crashed before the pizza got there, even though I really wanted some. :( Oh well, I had some in the morning.

That pretty much sums up the end of June for me. July on the other hand, hasn’t been nearly as eventful, but fun nonetheless. On Canada day, Simon happened to come back to town and he paid me $200 for the gas, prom ticket, and the ‘effort’ I expended to go get him but return empty-handed. I didn’t have to fight him for it, so that turned out well. The two of us + Conor hung out and eventually went back to my house, then later Harry, Ryan, and Ben stopped by with fire crackers we lit off in the park next door. We then went to Richmond for a bit. I eventually got home at around 2am and the next day was a holiday, so I didn’t have to work! :D It’s been a great couple of days, and I’m pretty sure I just wrote a small novel about it haha.
